Between 2005 and 2007, the INRAP undertook several evaluations and an excavation  on the site of a planned development at the hamlet of Visemarest. They revealed a series of Merovingian and Carolingian dwellings in the supposed area of the portus Quentovic. Among the variety of artefacts discovered, the Carolingian pottery, found in abundance, was classified according to type, and subjected to clay analysis. The results obtained tend to suggest a local production, which would be quite in keeping with the fact that this district, near Montreuil, was for a long period devoted to pottery making, from Roman times, through the Middle Ages, up to the present time.
